«Who am I? What am I? What is the root in me?» At the centre of fifth stage of Devozioni, an archetypal figure of Christianity returns. At the age of thirty Jesus is interrogated with his own questions.
In the research of Devozioni there is no logos. The question is status, is space, is time. At the question we arrive throug objective correlative. To strip the event of Christ from «word» and from «writing», reducing it to silence. This means rendering the archetypal pure, unseparable from the terminal particle, the human being, which refers to it. No noun. No definition. No difference.
A place has been chosen which doesn’t amplify anything, doesnt’ emphasize. It is cold and sharp as a razor’s edge. Each element slides on it to the grade zero, to the most elementary simplification, to disappearance.
The relationship between man and his identity, the relationship between man and the different nature, the relationship between man and his similar nature.

Nella città di K — devozioni V is a work about nature and time. About ancestry and offspring. What can be seen is not exactly what we know. Names are removed, natures are measured by approaching. This work can be followed only through its spectrography.
This work is dedicated to Agota Kristof and Plato.

The object of art: to give us back sensible space and time. To build for us a human space and time, made by man, which may yet be time and space. (Simone Weil).

Foundation notes
I live in the town of K, that’s everywhere. It is the palce where we tell our own story, where we try to build the image of our own identity. The town of K is the place where we can lay to ground our way backwards through conscience. In the town of K there is nothing we could swear has ever been, and its own premises can be questioned forever. The town of K is a paradox of time and space yet it is itself time and space.
Of Kristof’s novel I mostly remember the silence. In the houses, in the streets. I go on wondering and listening. What is the relationship between a human being and silence? To immerse a human being in silence. It has been an experiment tryed and falied by John Cage. Silence does not exist as such. It is a metaphore. Which is the color of silence? Especially, where are we when there is silence? Well, we are in the town of K, in the place where we end up everytime we are immerse into silence.
Years ago I was reading the Diaries of Simone Weil. A sentence struck me, which I later forgot and to which I returned half by chance these days. The reason it stuck me then is that I could not understand it no matter how hard I tried. The reason it strikes me now is that I have lived in it, worn it like a glove, without undersanding it, having forgotten it too. Devozioni is its product. I copied this sentence, word for word, all through a year, without looking back at it. Paraphrasing Picasso, I believe that things which most matter to us cannot be looked for. They can only be found. And sometimes they are.
I dedicate whis work to the relationship I have with my mother and to the most enigmatic words of Jesus.
